Repair Win XP

Hi there,

I need to repair my Win XP. When I insert my Win XP CD in my CD ROM nothing happens.

Is there suppose to be a screen with an option of what I want to do with this CD?

I want to do a repair because an error message keeps coming up when I start my computer that certain files are missing and to press R for repair, which I do, then sometimes it starts and other times I just keep pushing R and the Win XP screen comes on. I thought doing a repair with the CD would be better.

thanks for your help

Make sure you set the boot order in the BIOS to boot from CD before the HD.

Thanks for that. One question though,

How do I do that, setting the BIOS to boot from the CD instead of the Harddrive?

thanks

Getting into the BIOS depends on your PC. When you first turn it on, it may say something like "Press Del to enter setup" or something like that. The keys that raftero mentioned are common ones if you don't get any help from the PC. If all else fails, post your specs here and we can figure it out for you.
