Don't forget that you can always start an app by going into Windows Explorer and double-clicking the appropriate .exe file - e.g. winword.exe
If neccessary you can manually restore them to start menu by right clicking the exe file and choosing 'send to desktop as shortcut' When it's on the desktop you can drag it onto the start button, still holding left mouse button, start menu will pop up, drag it onto 'programs' or subdivision of 'programs' if you wish. Scandisk etc. live in the main c:\windows folder.
You can rebuild (and customise) the startmenu using windows explorer, just like creating new folders and subfolders for anything else. The Start Menu folder is also in the main Windows directory ( I mean folder - Win 3.1 dies hard!) You also have some options if you go start - settings - toolbars & start menu - start menu programs Hope this helps, Chris |
