XP Page Fault in Non Paged Area Error
I am trying to install a new XP Home Edition OS on a HP6646c 500mhz, 128mb ram system that had 98 on it. I deleted the partition, made a new one, formatted it and tried clean install. I keep getting the above error. Is this Ram or a bad HDD, maybe a bad CD?

XP is really picky about ram. I've seen 2K/98/ME run just fine on a few systems then nothing but errors with XP. Changed ram and they run fine. Not to mention XP will be slow with only 128Mb of ram and it's prolly shraring it with the video.

Okay, thought it might be but you guys clarified it for me. Thanks a ton. It was PC100, 2 sticks of 64. Just put in pc2100 256mb, will see how it does.

I just thought of something. If it installs okay with the pc133 will it run ok if I change it back to the 2 sticks of pc100?
