Hidden Icons on task bar not hiding.
I'm Running windows Blind 4. I noticed the other day that the hidden icon feature for the task bar was not working. I thought it might be because of the windows blinds so I turned it off and restarted. I still cannot get my system tray icons to hide. The arrow that you click to hide or unhide them will not even show up. I hope I have been specific enough to get help if not I'll answer questions. Please help. Oh and I'm running windows xp professional. A legal copy of all software as well nothing is hacked.

The problem fixed itself, and it rewrote the registry value. My question now is; is it possible to copy a value in the registry to notpad and save it some where? That way if it comes back again I can just reenter the value for a quick fix. I know if it aint broke don't fix it, but I want to know how to fix it should the problem arise again.

right click the registry key that you're messing with and choose "export". you can save it that way in case it gets messed up.

Interesting - I've used that Doug Knox vbs script on about a half-dozen XP systems without problems. It deletes the two corrupted registry keys, Windows rebuilds them (eventually) and things are back to normal.
I have no idea why it didn't work on your system. |
