Question What is this javaw.exe?Do i need it

Hi there...I have been having problems with my computer which seems to be stalling/shutting down occasionally. When I checked the task manager on the processes running I found that one particular program (javaw.exe) seems to be taking large percentage of the CPU...what does this program do, and most importantly do i need it? If not, how do I get rid of it? What is Java anyway? can anyone explain in layman terms? Thanks in advance

Part of Sun’s Java for Windows.

Recommendation :
Leave alone – Sun’s Java is used by all Internet browsers (Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera) and is essential to their ability to display many websites.

heard of prog called Lime wire, supposed to kinda like Kazaa? Well when I closed thaat prog. the javaw.exe disappeared from my applications running (end process's). Also know of any other detrimental' applications it loads?

Is it because that lime wire s/w needs it? Would this be any problem to my PC, ie. is it adware type s.ware?

regards

Lime Wire is a legit file sharing program and I note that the site makes a point of "NO spyware ever...".

That being said you're having trouble with it so another program like WinMX might be better for you.
