BIOS set screen @ boot up

I didn't know where to post this, but if this is the wrong place please move it...

Every time I unplug the system and all of the peripherals to do some kind of maintenace then go back to plug in everyhing and boot it up I always get the BIOS setup screen.

For Example:

A month ago I added 512MB of RAM, and a couple of days I go I added an extra 256MB...so when I am done and plug everything in (scanner, printer, webcam., mouse, keboard, card reader...) back to the system and I boot it up, I get the BIOS set up screen. I have to go through the entire BIOS set up...again.

It only happens once, and after the BIOS have been set up and the after the initial boot up everything goes back to Normal.

This happens even if I take it apart to do some cleaning...any idea why it happens or suggestions on how to fix it?

I am running win XP pro, the MoBo is Asus P4B.

Thanks!

I think there may be a setting in your bios that is not correct and when you cold boot the system it see it and goes to the bios so you can correct it.

Could be a CMOS battery that is dead, everytime you shutdown or power is lost the battery cannot retain the CMOS settings, hence the BIOS screen.
