Do a search for the entry in the Registry and delete it.

Do a search for another legible entry in the list.. you will find the section of the registry that contains the add/remove list, remove the offending entry.

I deleted the registry key. It's still in there. It was a game.Empire Earth by Sierra.I went to HKey\Local\Machine\Software\Sierra\Empire Earth and deleted it and did a search for Empire Earth and deleted all those files. Now there is the other Sierra game called Half Life in there.Don't know why Empire Earth is still in the Add\Remove list.I'm missing something here. When I try to remove the game I get the meneu for either remove or repair. When I try either one it seems to zip through it in a second but there is no change.I also have Sierra Utilities installed. Can you suggest anything else? Thanks.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
The Add/Remove Programs list is built from the keys listed beneath the Uninstall folder. The program you want to remove from the list is probably hidden within one of the keys with a long alphanumeric name. Clicking on those keys in the left pane and looking at the information provided in the right pane, usually "Display Name," can help in identifying the associated programs. Err on the side of caution in this operation. Once the key has been deleted it's impossible to use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall if you make an incorrect selection unless you reinstall the program to get it back on the list. |
