Send a message via ICQ to MOSFET
make sure your monitors refresh rate is the same as the refresh setting in Windows and the correct refresh rate for the monitor you have

make sure your using the right resolution for your monitor and card and the best color quality.

Go to Graphics card manufacturer Website and DL and install the latest driver.

Theres not much else to it unless it's your motherboard/AGP bus wich is unlikely or your monitor is crappy.

Have you tried any of the (usually ugly) wallpaper pics that come with Windows? If not, try one and see if it's pixilated too. If it's not, then the problem lies with the qualify of the pics you're trying to use. If they're highly compressed and you're telling them to "stretch" to fill the screen, they will pixilate every time. The more compressed the picture and the higher the resolution your screen is set to, the worse the pixilation will be.

Im currently viewing in 1000 X 700 (cant remember exact size, but 1 up0 from the 800x640.) Yes, I tried using the wallpaper that came with windows and I get the same thing. But this occurs ONLY when i stretch the image, otherwise all wallpaper looks fine centered.

Also, how do I know what refresh rate i should be using? and how do I know what is the correct setting in windows?

using the latest drivers, for any of the cards ive tried this on, same results.

This seems to be the only area its affecting. all games and other applications appear to be running fine.

heheh. Then what do you suggest? As far as exact settings, i'll have to recall from memory. Im at work, so...32 bit, 1024x768 resolution. Monitor is set at 85htz refresh rate (which in the book is recommended)

...i've tried just about everything I can think of when it comes to properties. This is the first time ive seen anything like this happen, so I wondered if it was due to a conflict or anything like that.

Anyone have any other ideas?

The default refresh rate for XP is 60 hertz and that's way too low for most people...the flickering becomes obvious.

I use 75hertz which works fine for most people.

Go into Display Properties>Settings tab>Advanced button and see what's listed for the monitor. If it says "Plug and Play" then maybe installing drivers for the monitor will help. I've never seen it make much difference but others have reported improvement.

Techs who know far more than I insist that using the highest refresh rate supported by the monitor won't hurt it at all, despite Windows "Dire Warning" you get when you try to raise it.
