xp activate?

Help stop an argument.
We keep disagreeing with how MS XP stops people from stealing it.
I say its because it has to be activated in 30 days or will shut off. (I know that there are ways around this). My argu-ee,
says once it is loaded on one PC it will "not" load all the needed files on another if you try.
I personally believe that if you load iot on 30 PC"s it will still work. BUT for only 30 days.
I would like to learn more about how this works if anyone has any web site that explain it I'd appreciate it.
I know that it sounds like I am trying to learn how to beat it, but I am not. reset 5.02 should explain that.

it is just the key thing that does it
after it is installed it creates a key by the hardware that in in your system, and when activated this key gies to the microsoft database and is checked everysooften to be sure that it is all correct,
if you change a set amount of hardware it won't match the key anymore and you must contact ms for a new key if you want to keep useing the software

if you install the software on another computer with out activateing it it will shut down
if you try to activate it the mumoers will not match and they will not let you activate it

Thats correct. Load it on fifty and use for 30 days. Day 31, reformat and load it again. Good for another 30 days.

I think that there is a way around that, though it may be a bit risky because of the fact that the info is sent to an MS Database.

EDIT: I have edited my post because I think I might have included information on how to cheat the system. NOTE TO MODS, I DID NOT DO THIS ON PURPOSE, I WASN'T THINKING WHEN I ORIGINALLY POSTED THIS REPLY
