new install windows xp pro with serial ata card

I have an ASRock K7S8X motherboard. I purchased a Maxtor Serial ATA hard drive. I have installed a serial ata adaptor card. I am trying to install Windows XP Pro. During the installation I press "F6" and load the 3rd party SCSI driver. My driver comes up and I press enter and setup continues.

My problem is when setup wants to reboot and it does not see that it has already loaded some files on the hard drive and wants to start over.

Somehow it is not seeing my hard drive. Any suggestions?

It says that it could not find a storage devie and wants to start all over again by hitting "F6" again to install a 3rd party device.

I don't know if this means anything or not, but during the booting process, the system can see the SIL 3112 Satalink Host Controller, but the next 2 lines are new.

Primary Channel: Drive not found
Secondary Channel: Drive not found

Cool

You have to change the boot order to boot from SCSI in order to boot from the SATA.

My CMOS only has 3.5" device or cd rom.
I don't see anyplace to boot from SCSI or PCI slot.

Cool

Go into BIOS and probably under Advance there will be a menue for "First boot device", "Second boot device", and "Third boot device". They all should have a arrow for a drop down menue. You can leave the first as floppy, set the second to SCSI.
Chas

Have just downloaded the manual. Ignore above suggestion. I cannot as of yet find where to set boot order. I will continue to check manual and If I can figure it out I will post back.

Only suggestion that I have, and this is a long shot. Refer to page 19 of your manual. Boot up with your mobo CD and go into the "Drivers" on the CD. See if it has anything there that references SCSI. Also check "Utilities" for anything to do with SCSI.
Chas

PS
You may be forced to use a IDE HD on Primary running as Master.

What drivers are you attempting to load?
Do you have drivers for the controller card and are they on a floppy?

Go back and read his original post. He's getting the OS loaded, but on reboot it's not seeing the OS on the HD connected to the controller card. His BIOS for that board doesn't have a option for SCSI which is required to boot from a controller card.

Maybe you can download his manual and give him some help. I've gone about as far as I can with my limited knowledge.

The only thing listed is 3.5" or cd rom. I have even tried to FLASH my bios. I do get an error #22 that says it did not install properly. I don't know what that means. I have emailed the mb supplier.

If the board is so limited,it may be adviseable to either use ide drive,or swap the board for one with built in sata support.
