Downloading

When I click to download files from websites, say its phpbb.com. It doesnt give me the option to save the file, it just opens it. Is there a way I can change this? I can click the little tick box after clicking a link to download a file because it won't let me, it just goes straight to opening the file.

Yes, I know about that but after you click the link it takes you to another page that says something like "In 5 seconds the download will begin automatically" and theres no way to save target as.

This is with the mods at www.phpbb.com.

I note that the support page for phbb.com has a heading called "bug reporting".
I think you just found one.
E-mail those guys and tell them what happened.
Meanwhile go back to a restore point before the problem started.

Its not a bug or anything, about a month ago or so I was downloading some maps for UT2003 and I accidentally clicked the little tick box that makes it where it will just open the file instead of saving it or something like that.

I found a way around it though. All I have to do is just copy the file to a folder and it saves the file.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Find and check the entry "Notify when downloads complete." Click OK. That should give you back the message box asking about "Save" or "Open" for future downloads.

Ya, it's not a bug. It's done on purpose to prevent ppl from downloading the files before going thru the disclaimers, software contracts and/or ads.
