XP OS on two different HDD

for some reason (can't remember) a while back i installed my XP professional OS on my 2nd 40 gig hard drive, so that everytime i turned on the computer it gave me 2 options of which OS to run. I always have to pick the 2nd option because that is the only OS that will start the computer. if i choose the first option the computer will just go to a black screen. my question is, how do i get rid of this screen so i don't have to arrow down to the right OS everytime i turn the computer on? do i need to format one of my drives so my computer doesn't have 2 OS's on it? not sure which drive currently my OS is working on. i think its the D: drive but not totally sure. any help be appreciated. thanks alot.

remove the partition on the one you don't want and then do a repaire of the one you do want and that should remove the dual boot menu

In control panel,go to system- advanced-startup and recovery-settings.
You'll see a drop down, choose the good OS and change time to shodisplay os's to 0.
Just make sure you choose the right one!
