Upgrading from Win98SE to 2000?

I have a friend who would like to upgrade from his current Win98SE installation to Win 2000. Is this a straight forward process or do I have to reformat the harddrive and perform some complicated procedure? Any advise or shortcuts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can perform an upgrade, but personally, I would save all the data in another place and do a fresh installation.

Win98 is better for games. I wouldn't upgrade unless you need Win2K for some reason. If you do decide to upgrade, to get the benefits of Win2K you need to reformat the main drive with NTFS and find and load Win2K drivers for all hardware.
