Problem with 98 Startup
A Friend of mine recently moved into a new apartment and i helped her move. In doing so, she had me hook up her computer and made sure it still worked. I then noticed that her system was incredibly outdated and required some much-needed maintenence. First I downloaded Java (to check her internet speed via DSLReports.com) and then I downloaded just about all of the updates on Windowsupdate.com, which was a surprising 60 or more. I rebooted her system, and now it refuses to start in normal mode. From starting, itll ask if I want to start in normal, safe, safe with networking, etc. If I choose normal, it reboots and asks again. If i choose safe, itll load safe, and so forth. however, I noticed that when I start and choose NOT to load the Autoexec.exe file, the computer starts normally. I've looked in her autexec file and it is rather empty, and has some gibberish. Is there a program that will check the integrity of the autoexec file or some other way to fix my problem? Is it possible (or wise) to remove all the entires in the autoexec file to avoid my problem? Please help, thank you

boot to safe mode and look for the file autoexe.bat rename it to autoexe.old then reboot autoexe.bat is not requierd with win98 or run msconfig and remove the tick from load autoexe.bat and comand.com reboot to normal mode as both files are not neaded by windows if she has some old dos games or programs thay may not work if so open autoexe.bat in notepad and type rem befor each line of giberish save and run msconfig to enable them again

Well, I haven't been able to get over to her place to give it a try. She somehow managed to fix it herself, so I think i might just leave it that way. I appreciate the help anyway.
