I need to make windows XP startup disks like you do with Windows 2000 pro Is there a way to do this for a 20 gig drive that is NTFS format ? Someone said there is a utl. in Windows called makboot.exe. Normally you would set up the system to boot from the CD but the CD is not bootable.
Thanks |

Check your boot sequence. ALL Win98, WinME, Win2K and WinXP CD's are bootable unless they are bootleg which will not be supported in these forums.

As HAL said, make sure you have the proper boot order. Go into your BIOS, find where you have the boot order settings, and change #1 to your CD-ROM, then exit and save the changes, then it should reboot from the XP disc.
If this does not work, and you have a legitamite copy of XP, contact MS about getting a replacement. Find more info on this process here Hope this helps. Last edited by bigandy; 12-22-2003 at 02:35 PM. |
