clean your cd and check for any scratches if its ok start the setup again deleate the xp partition and make a new one format ntfs and see if it works if you have another error masage on restart test your ram and hard drive and make shore the ide cable is tight and set the bios to safe defults and try again if that dont work your cd may be damaged

You won't need to reformat the hard drive.
First you should do a repair installation of Windows XP. IF this does not solve the problem, you will some how need to put your HD into another one's computer that has XP and load up HAL.dll into the asking directory. Did you by any chance try a system restore to an earlier working date? Check out this link. Link Hope that helps Last edited by Markoman01027; 12-23-2003 at 05:55 PM. |
