Hello and welcome to PC Mech.
Have you scanned your PC for viruses recently ? If not, I'd do that, strange things like that are likely some kind of virus. RJ

I dunno RJ... I've been having that happen on IE on my machine and my work machine lately.... I just use the scroll wheel and the prob goes away. I've done spyware checks with AdAware and Spybot, virus checks with NAV, Etrust and Housecall... nothing.

Same here on occasion...but it goes away if I reboot. I have no idea if it is a hardware or software problem. After this thread I am leaning towards software since I doubt if we all have the same hardware. Just another fun extra from Microsoft I guess...lol. But if anyone knows the cause and a cure I will gladly forgo this extra feature.

I never have to reboot... just scroll with the wheel or change to a different page and its fine.... but it's such a minor prob in my case, I haven't bothered looking for a solution.

maybe mouse drivers, What kind of mice. Spotted? No seriously programmable mouse drivers could be the problem. Might be worth a shot. Same prob on a Me box but is minor and I haven't really investigated further but we do have a logitech w/webwheel on it. Problem was not there before we got the mouse!?!

Have any of you installed anything recently? Maybe you all installed the same program and its causing the problem.

slight rk-around
One thing I did try was to make my video memory larger on the Me system, (onboard graphics). Then I went to control panel>system>performance>graphics>. Once there I moved the graphics acceleration back one notch. It seemed to help some, but it still happens occasionally.

You might check to see how many lines your scroll is set for. Could have got changed by faulty install of mouse drivers or by a software program. Have had biggest problems with Logitech's software in the last couple years of using their drivers. Have had so many wierd things happen that I could not mention them all here but suffice to say that I use only Microsofts drivers for any kind of mouse now and I don't ever seem to have a problem with those. I did find a small program that works great for setting up middle buttons and scroll beside Microsoft's too a while and seems very stable. It's called Cool Mouse and can be downloaded and registered at
