Question AVG Anit-Virus Error "driver(CORE) not found winerr=2"

When AVG Anti-Virus starts automatcally or started from the start menu, I get this error:

driver(CORE) not found winerr=2

Other people have had this problem, but no one knows what to do about it.

My other post about long startup times:

I uninstalled Norton Anti-Virus to see if it helped the problem....
I noticed that Norton would not load completely at start-up

Now AVG has a problem with starting-up... It runs but what about the error?

I have seen several posts on the net about that error without any fix for it. The only time I ever encountered this was when trying to run AVG in safe mode. Try uninstalling AVG, backup your registry and remove any entries of AVG, then reinstall the anti-virus and see if the problem persists.

Read about deleting the prefetch from this thread:

It got rid of the error message
