windows

ok I must have had a brain fart

what am I doing wrong
I found out just now that I can't have two internet web sites open at the same time.
like pcmech for one and newwegg for the second.
it always closes one before opening the other,
even if one in minized.

What browser are you experiencing this with?? Do you have another browser on your PC like Mozilla to see if same problem?? If thats IE you are having the trouble with, I would sure think that it is a setting under InternetOptions and perhaps the advanced tab that is causing that, but I do not see anything that would do that.. Were you able to view multiple sites before???,,, If so what changed to cause this????

does it completely close them? Or is it grouping similar taskbar buttons together?

What OS... but more importantly, is it after typing in an address, or from clicking a link, or from going to a favorite? All, or none? so if you open up a blank page it closes the other? Only one window open at a time? I guess you can open as many win explorer windows as you like (for viewing ur computer and drives and what not). Trying to think of things.

pcmech is stlil open and min

Ahhhh... I think what it is doing is using that same window you already have open and redirecting to the new page in the window that is already open..Mine does it that way with email links, but I want it to do it that way... Look under advanced tab of internet options and there are a few things I see right in the top section called Browsing that I bet you could play with the setting till you get it how you really want it to act...

EDIT: I see a setting there under advanced tab, browsing called 'reuse windows for shortcuts', I'll bet that may make a difference if you find that it is checked and U uncheck it. It is checked on mine, but I like it that way...

it works the way I want it to if I open explore then my favorites to the page I want, then minize it and open explore again and do the same for the ones I want and then they stay on the task bar and maxumize as I choose,

I just can't do it with the short cuts on the desk top.

I use IE6, bailey and what I do is open multiple screens using the IE icon in the task bar. Then within each window, you can view favorites and browse to a favorite without disturbing a previously opened browser. If you click a desktop icon or use a short cut hot key, it will use the last opened browser to establish a link with the selected shortcut. Does that help?
