Help. I am so frustrated. I have been at this for hours. I reinstalled XP home for a friend with a DSL connection. We cannot connect to AOL or IE now. Her computer has recognized her DSL connection, but will not connect. AOL was not alot of help. Any ideas?

Welcome to PCMech...Is your computer connecting to the DSL and the browsers are not displaying any sites? Or is the computer not able to connect to the DSL connection?

Ethernet or usb?
Is the dsl modem connected to the computer or to a router then the computer? Is the network adapter driver installed? Are you using the internet connection wizard? Or the ISP's software? |

redo I'm gonna jump in here too. I actually have two ethernet cards installed. Linskeys and realtek. When I try to use the setup wiz, I go through the motions but when I click finish no con shows up in my network connections folder. Device manager says both are working and enabled. If I disable one , it still doesn't work. Trying to con via dsl

Got it
We figured it out. It was such a stupid oversight that I am too embarrased to tell you what it was! But I wanted to thank you for all your help.
Happy New Year! |

you shouldn't be embarrassed about it, you may save someone else the headache if you share...besides...we've all had our "moments"
