Can't open Help Files

I'm using Win XP Pro and can't start any help files. From any programs. Some programs just do nothing when I try, other give an error message "Could not start Window's help".

One other thing I've noticed, but it might be unrelated, is that I've had some trouble with Window's update. I got the same notice for critical update after multiple installs. Eventually, there was a cumulative patch and I installed it and things are fine.

I also have a dual boot with Win 98SE.

Thanks.

sounds like a bad install with xp if none of the help files work or you got something disabled so they don't work
