Unhappy Windows 98 Not enough Free Memory

I have a Dell L500R running windows 98. I began have problems getting it to access my internet server. Then it just began to give me problems with explorer reading Htlm pages. So I figured I should maybe just reload windows. In the process when I booted to complete the installation I got a message that said there was no class key, and it would not let me complete the reinstallation of windows. It came back when I rebooted and used an old system file. Now I get windows but nothing will run because I keep getting a not enough resources or free memory. What's a girl to do, I have to get my tax data off this system.

Wait I didn't mean that it wasn't working fine, it was a working like crap that's why I attempted to reload 98. I'm wonder if I can boot it with a 98 boot disk?

sounds like you got two install of windows now and the hard drive is full.
and you have unreplaceable file on it, and no back up,
and now you can't even get into windows now.
that sound about right ?

see if you can get into safe mode

Okay...how much RAM do you have in that desktop computer? If more than 512MB, you'll have problems unless you make a tweak to the vcache setting in system.ini.
