ME & IE6 - DSL Internet Keeps Freezing Up

Hi, even since I upgraded to a broadband internet service (although it's called that, I think it might actually be DSL), Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook Express often become irresponsive.

For example I click on a link and nothing happens, there is no responce from any site. Similarly in Outlook, it just stops at "connecting" or whatever stage it is at while getting my e-mails. The programs themselved don't freeze, but the internet won't respond. There is no fixed time limit or frequency to when it happens but I can have no responce from anywhere from thirty seconds to a few minutes.

My ISP says it is software related - that I have a corruption on my PC. Is this correct and is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

Thanks in advance and P.S. my internet runs really slow when browsing, approx. the same as my old 56k - although it does go at its expected speed when downloading.

Send a message via ICQ to CrazyMike
Do you know how far away from your ISP? If you live more then 5 miles away your DSL connection won't run to fast.

Well I'm pretty centralised to the ISP. I'm more concerned though with the freezing ups? Any ideas on that?
