i'm finishing up installing a liteon dvdrw. the software to burn with says to uninstall the iaa driver if installed to prevent conflicts.
i ran search files and folders and found such as viaagp and wiaacmgr etc. how and where do i look on this xp machine to see if it is installed. sonic mydvd is the software that comes with the dvdrw. thankx, ray. |

Is that a AMD or Intel computer? I think only Intel based computers will have the IAA driver on the motherboard CD if you wish to install it. I don't.

it's an intel emachine.
i don't want to install the iaa driver. i nned to remove it if it's on this pc so i don't screwup the sonic mydvd software install. i just don't know an easy way to search for it to be sure it's not here being it's a driver and not a prog. |

Did you install the IAA driver when you built this computer?
Did you check in Add/Remove Software? Cricket

it's an emachine.......i didn't do nothin 'cept plug it in. [yeah, i know. i'm getting lazy.]
![]() it doesn't show up in add/remove programs. [but being it's a system driver, would it??] if it is [or not] in the windows folder somewhere, and i knew where to look, it would be helpful. else i'll just have to make a restore point and do the install and see what happens.

Have you checked the Intel web site yet? They should have information on how to determine if IAA is installed or not.
But being a eMachine, I really doubt if IAA is installed. Cricket

i didn't even think to try there.this is from the article dealing with verifying if it is installed : Microsoft* Windows* XP * Run 'Start' then 'Control Panel' * Double-click 'System' Control Panel Application * Select the 'Hardware' tab * Select 'Device Manager' button * Expand the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers' entry * Right-click on the 'Intel 82801xx Ultra ATA Controller' listing, where xx in 82801xx represents the controller identified by the 'System Requirements' section of this document * Select 'Properties' * Select the 'Driver' tab * Select the 'Driver Details' button * 'IdeChnDr.SYS', IdeBusDr.SYS, and IPrtCnst.DLL should be displayed i don't have it.interestingly enough, this driver is an upgrade for the well known ultra ata hdd storage controller. it claims to be more efficient. because i have reservations on how i have this dvdrw cabled, you might want to browse general hdwe for my post about dvdrw as master on cs cable to see if you have any opinions and thankx for the help! ray. |

I think you can just go to start, control panel, add remove progs, find IAA and remove it, that should get rid of it, if it is installed on your system.

because it is a driver, the way that intel requires to see if it is installed is listed above.
intel didn't list to just check add/remove programs. it may not always show up there but still be on the pc. since i did the check the way that intel recommends, i happy that my pc is clean. |
