I am running ME with a new Motherboard, RAM, Intel 1.7 mhz processor & 10 gig h-drive. Some IEdll problems (ieloader.dll) but nothing major. Now web sites will not display images when pages download. I have to manually open each image placeholder. Some sites do not display fully eg; dropdown menus. I have tried to upgrade to IE 6 but installation aborted each time due to inability to load certain files. Can anyone recommend a reliable site to download dlls as this could relate back to the" iedll. loader" message. Any ideas...anyone!!? |

you can do an extract from your windows cd. Can't remember exact syntax. At the bottom of this page is a little info that might help with your search for the file(s) you might need. Windows help will also tell you how to extract from your cd.

Did you try the Windows Update site at all? they have a fairly decent TroubleShooter at that site for issues installing updates.
If the motherboard is recent, but WinMe started life with a different motherboard, you can also try the "Enum Trick" from the Tips&Tricks forum - which can smooth the transition a bit: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9254 Of course, if you've already extracted the files you needed from your Win98 cd (following catfish's post) and all is OK - you are celebrating 2004 already . . . Thanks guys. ME has worked perfectly in the past with old and new mother boards. I will try the extract from the CD and get back to you.

Make sure you've shut off your Anti-Virus software. I seem to make that error often.

First go to http://www.litepc.com/ and download Ieradicator. Follow the directions and then install IE fresh. This eliminates any possible conflicts as the old version is gone completely.
good luck Bruce |

Thanks again guys. I have tried the Windows Troubleshooter and all the usual checks were ok. The season sludge is slowly draining from my brain and I will get serious now with the extract and litepc tacks. Fingers x'ed & thanks for taking the time.

unable to load ie6
Thank you one and all. Bruce seems to be the winner with the "Litepc" site. I downloaded the programme and uninstalled IE completely from the hard drive and installed IE6 from a cd.
Now works perfectly. A great little programme and thanks again Bruce & everybody. |
