Other than setting a permanent swap file, frequent defragging, moving swap file to front of drive (I use Speed Disk), does anyone have any other tips and hints to make Windows 2000 run better or smoother or faster?

Shut off all nonessential services, Native defragmenter is best, but if u must clutter with 3rd party software Diskeeper is by far the closest.
If there are multiple "insecure" users, try to do the "little things" unifying temp directory and such... Perform security updates. Minimize logging of general programs. Establish limits to log file sizes. Perflogs are defaulted at max sizes. . . . |

Yes, you should install SP1, in fact, I wouldn't even run Win2000 without SP1. It fixes many security issues.
Although Win2000 is more secure than 98 SP or not.

Yes definetely get SP 1. Without it I can't even really operate my machine and get constant iexplore errors. Does anyone know when SP2 is gonna be out? Thanks.
