I have:
Windows XP PRO 128 MB ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Video card When I tried to uninstall my CATALYST drivers for my ATI video card, I ran into problems. I uninstall the drivers properly, then when I restart my computer, new hardware (the video card) is detected automatically. Then, an icon (looks like plyers or a tool or something) appears in the right hand corner of the taskbar and automatically installs "some" drivers for the video card without even asking me. I'm assuming there is an option in Windows XP to turn this automatic install option off, any ideas? This is a problem because once I can't install the new drivers over the old ones because I'm automatically prompted to restart my system. -Thanks in advance! |

What are you trying to do? Install an updated driver for your video card? After WinXP has installed its drivers, reboot the system and install the ATI updated driver. Or you can go to the device manager, open the properties of your video card and click update driver. When I did mine, I just installed my drivers using the install program from my video card manufacturer over the WinXP drivers and it works fine.
