Sound drivers, what will work

I have been trying to find a better sound driver for my "I Will KK266-R" motherboard? Their site has changed, and the drivers i once had i can't get? The ones i have now are pretty terrible compared to what i had before. My board uses CMI8738 4.1 onboard sound, But they don't have a driver which supports Win 98Se. Does any body have an idea which drivers i could use? are they all teritorial, or do they cross over to other boards?

To get in, the user name is drivers and the password is all.

You should beable to find the drivers for your onboard sound.

If you reinstalled the OS recently, don't forget to reinstall the Via 4n1s for the motherboard too. The KT133/KT133a chipsets had timing issues that sometimes affected sound quality.

The USA Iwill site has most drivers on their page for your board: http://www.iwillusa.com/supports/Dri...&SID=33&MID=26

Or if it's just a different 8738 driver you want to try, I've had good luck with the reference CMI drivers at the Cmedia website: http://www.cmedia.com.tw/download/OS...8738_index.htm . . . with older motherboards and Win98, I usually go with the .vxd drivers. You can try the .wdm model ones, too - just be sure to completely remove any former drivers before installing new ones (uninstall drivers in Safe Mode from Device Manager & in Add/Remove Sofware in the Control Panel)

Best of luck
. . . Gary

(of course, if you've already found suitable drivers over at driversguide.com, you're in good shape already - keep that link from Carl handy = they've got a great selection over there)
