Shows Virus NO virus???
Hello All,
I keep getting this popup from AVG telling me I have a virus. I run AVG and it finds Nothing. I also ran "Trend Micro Housecall" online virus scan, and it also finds Nothing. This is on my kids puter, which DID have a virus a few weeks back. It was completely messed up, so I reinstalled WinXP Home. Other things I have done are as follows: 1.Deleted the file that says is the culpit---it came back. 2.Ran Ad- Aware. 3.Ran Reg Clean. 4.Ran Spybot Search and destroy. Heres a pic of the popup im getting. I blurred out the numbers in the file name(didnt know what they meant) Any help will be greatly appreciated. I gotta run for a while, so ill check back later. Thanks.

Edave,
Download The Cleaner by Moosoft and run it. It does remove trojans. I am going on the basis that it is called a trojan. Carl |

yea, Kubie is correct, AVG might not be picking it up because it is a trojan, try a trojan remover eg,
http://download.com.com/3000-2239-10...ml?tag=lst-0-2 This is a shareware program should do the job

Also, disable System Restore before scanning with the anti-virus or trojan cleaners. You can do this by right clicking on My Computer, go to properties, system restore tab and check the disable box, hit apply.

Hello All,
Welp, Its been about 20 minutes and i have not had a popup as of yet. Funny thing though, is that I ran the Trojan cleaner(Moosoft), and it did not pick up anything. I disabled system restore (which cleaned all restore points), and have since enabled it again. I found the file that it was sayin was the virus, and was a text file. Could this have just been a left over file that was in the sys restore folder, and disabling it got rid of it?? Sorry if this is confusing, but at least its so far so good Thanks |
