HELP! Installing Office 2000&XP under Win98SE
I have just reformated an old PII 350, 64mb Ram, 10gigHD, installed Win98SE onto it, all the required drivers and am now trying to install Office 2000 onto it. The problem is, anytime I insert the CD, it tries to autorun but does nothing. I disabled the autorun and tried just running the setup.exe but it then tells me it is not a valid Win32 application. This CD worked fine the last time I tried it, under Win 98, Win Me and Win XP, but now with this computer it won't recognise it. This did happen me one other time when I tried to install it on a computer, but that time I just gave up. I have now also tried to install Office XP on it and it still doesn't like it. When I put in the Office XP cd, it takes the disc in loads the program, then says I need core packages installed. I go through with it and it comes to copying file TIMESDB.TTF and brings me up an "Error 2355. Setup cannot access a file cabinet. blah blah" I followed a few of the instructions they gave me like disable cache on CD Drive, disable autoplay, but still no joy. I check the cd using dir /s and it comes out without a problem.
Anyone ever encountered either problem? I'm trying to sort out a neighbours computer here. I am considering sticking in my own CD Drive as my next attempt at it.
