I have just installed Windows 2000 on a couple different machines. There appears to be a delay on the screen that says "Please wait... Windows is starting"
This screen stays long enough that you might think the machine is hung. So it gets a hard restart and the same thing happens. If I just wait... sometimes up to 30 minutes, that windows starts and everything appears normal. Both machines are Dells, but different models. There is also a clone that the same thing happens to. I have other Dells and clones where this does not occur. Any Ideas? |

What are the specs of these machines? Was this a clean install or upgrade? HTH

Have you changed the hardware config for the machines after win2k was installed.

PIII 733/833, 128 MB RAM, 6 - 10 GB HD,
clean install w/o format. Just istalled to new directory to keep data available. re-installed all software after. made no hw changes after w2k install. |

Did you install it on the same partition as the former operating system (like win98)? Or on a different one?
