Boom XP Remote desktop brainteaser

I recently removed my graphics card from my computer on a completely unrelated task. when i putt it back in i got all kinds of problems. new drivers sorted most of them out but i still had problems. i inserted the windows xp cd to repaire windows and hopefully get it sorted. by shear idiocy i did a reinstall. it kept most of my programs there and a lot of settings but a lot had been changed and it was worse than before.
Hears the teaser!!!
It would not let m set up user as administrator or p3k2d2 (my comps network name). i set it up as greg which is my name. from my physical computer i can only log into "greg" the new user. there dont seem to be any other windows versions and/or users at all. no options and no log in possibilities other than "greg".
HOWEVER
from a remote desktop connection i can log in as administrator and access all my old setting and programs as though they were never gone!!
Any ideas anyone? I want my old windows back!!!

so u reinstalled windows???
probably without a format c then? then i can say ...u'll need a reformat :s but u'll lose it all( your old dta) u can try to retrieve it with some program but it very doubtfull cause u installed a windows on a prim.partition allready containing an os :s
btw the first thing u do when u have probs try to come a bit earlier...when u had that vidprob..i guess (not sure) that a cmosclearance would have solved it...maybe even someting not that drastic...
but from here u'll need a format maybe even a repartition to make sure it's all gone .. and start over
the reason why u can't reset that account...cause it's allready there on the other os u didn't remove!
or did the xpinstall also remove previous??
and what did u mean by 'i kept all programs there'?? when reinstalling never let parts of previous os ..remove all before reinstall
if so try reinstalling and in the install menu remove the partions and reset them then try reinstalling again ...

Cheers very much. I had a suspicion i would have to reinstall. I know for a fact my graphics card has taken a turn for the worst. It wont do any difficult 3d rendering anymore, only basic windows functions. I never intended to re-install windows, just try and access some kind of repaire function but it kinda took off and i didnt dare stop it once it was started. The issue was i lost my old user but i have found how to log back in to it now. It was only disabled for emergencies by the new administrator account which i dont seem to be able to disable. I can still use comp almost to full although it is very very unstable. Im on it now in fact so i can save all my data. I'm about to build a new machine anyway but theres no doubt i will have to folk out for a new graphics card.
Ah well. Teach me to be so slack with my hardware. I'll get a few static wrist bands!! Its an old installation of XP anyway. It was on my list of things to do a full format and reinstall. I did try clearing CMOS as a last resort but no difference. its just the graphics card. The rest is windows
