Dual Booting Question

I am planning on installing a second hard drive in my PC and I want to run Win 2000 on it. (It's for a class.) My current OS is Win XP Pro. Does anyone know of a tutorial or a guide that will help me to set up dual booting between the two operating systems?

Hello Boone,

Simply install Win2k on the other HD, and WinXP will add the necessary modifactions to the BOOT.INI file, and upon startup, you will get a dual boot menu.
Try google.com "Duel boot tutorials".

If XP is already installed on the one HDD and you install 2000 on the other it will overwrite the boot.ini file and will not give the dual boot. There are work arounds in the 2K/XP FAQ at the top of this forum, but the best rule of thumb is install the oldest OS first. Easy but not fast way is to install 2K then run a repair of XP and reinstall all of the XP updates.

Could also look into a program that gives you a 'booting' list at start up.

i think its called

Commander 2000

i remember a friend tring to boot 2k with xp he had to hide a partition all the time cuz XP was a PITA...
