I had this cool program with my old old laptop called TransXit (I think) that would take folders of your choosing on the laptop and update them with folders on the desktop. It would copy the most recently changed file to the other folder, so that everything stayed up-to-date very easily.
Is there some functionality like that with XP Home? Or is there a freebie program that does that? Thx.

Have you looked at the "File & setting transfer" Wizard. It's located under System tools. I don't know if it will do what you want, but it might be worth a look.

Couldn't find that Wizard. Found System Tools under Computer Mgmt in the Admin Tools section. Didn't see anything like that under the System folder either. Any ideas?

Hmm, well I did find it now, but that says it's for transferring files and settings from old comp to new. What I'm looking for is a way to almost mirror two folders on separate networked comps, so that when documents are saved to one they are then automatically saved to the other. OR, the TranXit (or whatever it was called) program would compare two folders when updating, and then save the most recent version of a document to the other folder. Any ways to accomplish that? Thx.

I let this lay for quite a while obviously, but I finally got time to start organizing some files and folders and then backing them up.
andy, the program you recommended above is pretty cool. Very simplistic to use, color-coded for ease, quick and tidy. It's shareware, so I'll have to buck up $30 to keep it, but worthwhile if anyone else needs such a product! Kov |
