Reformatting the hard drive resources.

Does anyone have any good links i can read about reformatting the hard drive.

I went to start>programs>accesories>command prompt..and then typed ...format C:
I was warned that thiswould erase everything and asked if i watned to proceed. i said yes but then after i hit enter it said .."format cannot run because it is in use by another process. format may run if this volume is dismounted first. All opened handles would then be invalid. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume?"

i am not sure what to do at this point.

yes that is true
you cannot format the drive that you are useing.
boot the system with a w98 boot disk or any other bootable floppy that has the system files and the format files on it

what is the operating system you have on it now
and why do you need to fromat it

I ask because there are differant ways to do this

I just noticed this is the second time you posted this same question

Boot from the cd and delete all partitions, then tell it to setup windows and/or partition and format away.
