P3 help!!!

My friend bought a new case along with an XP CD. Her old computer was a Dell P3 800Mz 512Mb ram with 20 GB HD. She got a new case and wanted me to install in for her. This is my 4th computer I built so im ok at it. I had a hard time installing XP on her computer cause her CD drive stop spinning half way through installation. So I took out her HD and put it in my computer and installed XP that way it work fine. Then I put everything in the new case, it was a little hard since the MoBo had no manual had to use trail and error setting up the Power and Reset jumpers. After everything was done when the computer starts it wont load XP. I enter Bios and everything seems fine. It reads the HD as master the size is right, but it freezes before start up. If I try to enter safe mode it freezes after this
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drives\Mup.sys
it loads more files than that before but that’s the last line. I thought it was the HD so I took out the HD and put it in my computer and it loads XP just fine. I also took out the video card and put it in my computer to test it as well, it also worked fine. I changed the ribbion from the HD to the Mobo still no good. I took out one of my Hd that has XP on it and put it in the new computer and it wont work like the other one. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Her computer worked fine before, it had Win Me on it. Can the Mobo be damaged after just taking it out some how? Or did I do something wrong?

I would remove your cdrom and place it in her system, then install xp. That way the install doesn't get confused about chipsets and cards and so on at boot time, wich is what you are experiencing. Also make sure you aren't shorting any mobo standoffs on the mobo where none should be.

wrong.
it is regestered to that system, you will need to reactivate it after it is all set up.

I am a bit confused and what you trying to do

got a new case ?
did new case also have a new mother board or did you take the motherboard out of the dell and install it into the new case.

it is showing that it has more than one os on it probly because of the failed install

Everything is the same, only thing that is new is the case and XP cd that she bought. I also have a second computer with XP on it, I took out the HD from my second computer and put in her HD to see if it will load and it loads fine.
