Angry Fire Stop Error with AMD 64 FX-51

Well I just purchased and built a new computer. I have an Asus SK8N motherboard with 1 GIG of PC3200 RAM. I have an AMD 64 bit FX-51 Processor. I have a SATA Seagate 80GB hard drive. Since I built the computer, I have been getting Stop Errors with the blue screen. It will also freeze up for no reason from time to time. I have checked and doubled checked to see if I have all the latest drivers. It appears I do. When I look up the problems with Microsoft, they say it is a device driver. But I have the bare minumum running right now. Just a video card plugged in. (GeForce 4 4600 TI).I even disabled the onboard aduio at this point.

So I am really lost at this point. If any one could help that would be great.

Thanks in Advanced,

Tim

Are the mem timings at default? Are you ocing anything? What are the cpu and system temps? Does the southbridge run hot?
I have heard about bugs in the 64 bit stuff such as yours but nothing specific. Wish I could be more helpfull.
For a gf4ti card I always use the whcl 4072 driver, and don't oc the card.

My first instincts are also about the memory. Is it the required ECC memory? AMD FXs need ECC.

Well it did appear to be a RAM issue. I have two sticks of 512 MB of PC3200 ECC RAM. The one stick did give me alot of trouble. (Stop errors, or frezzing up) The second stick I tried I have not had any problems yet. So I think it is ok for now.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
