XP Service Pack 2

Does anyone know when XP SP2 is coming out and if there's going to be any crazy new features on it (like pop-up blockers).

I heard that SP2 is suspected about mid 2004. It will include a Pop-up manager, as well as an improved firewall, and update Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. There are some other things but I forget. I also believe that this will be the last service pack for XP, with the new Windows (Longhorn) coming out around 2006.

LOL.. believe that when I see it... WinNT was supposed to end at SP4 and is up to what... 6A? Win2K was supposed to be the end of the service pack.... I do believe it's up to SP4.

Hard time believing that statement ..
If that were the case, then I would be really scared of using the OS. Think about how many vulnerabilities there would be in that time of ~4 yrs ..

Im running XP2 Beta and yes is due out in mid 2004.So far its 133mb. All the hot fixes have been put in one file so that the Add/Remove stops getting filled up. It also has Messenger disabled by default, pop up stopper, better firewall. Its seems stable enough so far and has not caused any probs.

The beta is already floating about. From what I've read the final version should be out in the later half of this year.

hey kids,

is there any way to save windows xp/2000/98/95 service packs on a cd instead of having to be connected to the internet so that the computer can access microsoft? just wondering because my friend wants to install a service pack, but has no internet access...plus i think a cd w/all the SPs would come in handy. thanks...

I have servicepack 1 on disc. If you want it, I will make you a copy. I really don't care if it is illegal to make a copy. I think it is robbery for M$ to make us pay for a disc that should be free to fix their screwups. Just let me know.

yes there is, I just downloaded every service pack, update, and anything else that was there for every O/S that MS has listed, and burned them all to a cd by the O/S files.

just go to update and then the catalog for each O/S and get them all.

Yes, download the network [full] version of the sp. Burn it to disk or keep it on your hd. I have both sp4 for win2k and sp1 for xp saved on hd and CD.

I understand what you are saying and I repsect you for it but not M$. I bought the service pack legally for $10 from M$ as I have all of my software. Can you say the same? Maybe you can but I bet 80% of the members here have used or downloaded something that is illegal. I stand by what I sayt. If somebody wants the disc for service pack 1, I will mail them a "copy". M$ has already been found guilty of theft so I really don't care and if I get kicked out of here for something this "trivial" then so be it. There is alot of things that are said on this forum that are illegal and you know it, just because I am blunt about it should not matter in the least.

Whenever "illegal" discussion comes up on these boards, we do our best to shut it down ASAP and if the person wishes to push the issue, they are dealt with by the admin and mods of this site... EVERYONE here knows that. Now distributing the SP is NOT illegal as the $10 you paid is for the media only, the SP is free. If you wish to push an issue that you are seeing as a "non issue", then so be it although it makes little sense to me....., you can consider this your first warning.

On that note... I see no reason to continue this thread.
