At that windows prompt that you have just type the letters win and that will take you back into windows.. When U reboot the PC though, does it go into windows or is the problem really that even when rebooting you only get as far as the windows directory command prompt???

Just need to know if typing win does work?? Just to verify if windows is corrupted or not? I would take a guess here that your autoexec.bat file is being used and is stopping the process at the command line.. If so you could just put the win command in the autoexec.bat file but that is not really the right way. Maybe you could copy and paste your autoexec.bat file if you need help to see if it is anything in that file that is stopping the boot process from going all the way into windows..

Now that you've run a Rescue Disk, can you start your computer into Windows as it was when you first got the system?

Some Rescue (also called Recovery or Restore) disks reformat the hard drive & restore the drive's data to the exact condition it was in when it first arrived from the store. Anything added since would have to be added in again - from backups, or your program disks.

If you have any questions about where to find drivers, let us know (make/model for pc and for device)
