Nero uninstall

I hope someone can tell me what is being removed from XP when I uninstall Nero (don't ask) that would cause another program (QuickBooks) not to open. I get the following alert when I try to open QuickBooks:
"An unrecoverable error has occurred
exception MSXML could not CoCreateInstance HRESULT=80040154 thown with error code - 2147221164
Function: ADR::repository:oInitialLoad
File:.\.\src\Repository.cpp"

When I click OK, I get a second screen:
"Runtime Error!
Program:...Intuit/QuickbooksPremier/qbw32.exe
abnormal program termination"

I know uninstalling Nero is the problem. I restored back to before the uninstall and everything was fine. Uninstalling Nero brings the alert back.

Thanks for any help.

Send a message via Yahoo to pillainp
Have you tried uninstalling Nero and then reinstalling Quickbooks?
I know of no reason why Nero should interfere in the functioning of another software package.

Yes, I did -- several times. All I know is that when I restored Nero,QuickBooks worked again. When I uninstalled Nero again, I would get the same message.

Is the Quickbooks backup linked to your CD-RW drive?

I tried backing up to the hard drive, hoping I'd break the link, but I get the same alert.

That's what I did, but removing Nero caused the same problem afterwards.

No, I said don't ask in the first post My wife is using a program to make a VCD which won't work with Nero but does work with ECDC. So I tried to remove Nero and install ECDC for her. Before ECDC was installed, I ran into the QuickBooks problem.

I tend to agree. Quickbooks can be a real pain, whereas Nero is pretty straight forward.
Just make a copy of the whole Quickbooks folder to another folder. Uninstall Quickbooks, uninstall Nero, Install EZCD, and then reinstall Quickbooks.
Open the folder where you copied the QB folder, find the QBW file, create a shortcut on your desktop and then select Open With, Select Quickbooks and check always use this program.
The other option is to get divorced and keep Nero.

Believe it or not, I tried all of that before I posted. I've got it where Nero, ECDC and QuickBooks are living side by side now. I'm still trying to figure out why it happended in the first place.

Btw,divorce isn't the answer; she won't leave the house.

Quickbooks really intergrates itself with other programs on a computer and being a finanial program where security is of interest, any changes made to where it has linked causes problems. Or at least that is my take on what I have seen.
