Finally gonna try xp. I have been a win98 user for four years and have used xp a little. How will the install go? What are the best options for settings etc.? Is there a foder in xp to copy to the hard drive like the win98 folder in windows, (I always hated the "please insert windows 98 cd" when trying out new/diff hardwear)? Any other pointers or things I need to be aware of? Going on latest build.
Asus a7v8x-x, athlon xp2200+, powercolor/radeon 9600pro ez 256m, 512mb pc2700(crucial), 80 gig wd w/8mb, 52/32/52 optorite. I figured on partitioning the drive with fdisk and then letting xp take it from there. cat

No need to use Fdisk, just set your bios to boot to the cdrom, insert the XP cd and reboot. The setup will allow you to partition/format during the setup. No need to copy any files to the HDD like 98/ME
I would highly recommend fomating the HDD with NTFS instead of FAT32 there is a big difference with security and stability when using NTFS over FAT32
