win me
How do you get into the real DOS in win me? Also, what would cause the mouse to always turn into the hour glass when you point to the bottom tool bar(shut down), but work fine as long as your hooked up to the internet via DSL?

. . . and if that patch seems a bit too scary for just occasional DOS forays, you can boot from your WinMe CD, and choose "start computer with CD-rom support" (actually, you can choose with or without, both are DOS, but it's nice to be able to access the CD).
Regarding the mouse hourglass, that's the default animated pointer for "system busy" (a program is working on something). If you haven't selected anything, but only moved the pointer to the bottom of your screen, try pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL just once, and see what's running in your TaskList. If anything looks suspicious, you can try running a spyware program (like AdAware or Search&Destroy) to make sure you're not sending info you don't want to. . . . Gary |
