Dear Forum-
I've never had this problem before; however, I must have somehow disabled the Windows XP Prefetch service. No files are EVER in my Prefetch folder now. I used to delete them every couple of weeks, but now, no files ever accumulate. It seems as if performance has fallen off in direct relation to this event as well. Anyone have any ideas about "reactivating" that service, or what service under services.msc runs it? Thanks and yall have a good one. |

Not Important-
Thanks for the reply. I checked the registry entry and it's currently set to a value of "3," therefore that must still be working. I think I may have figured out the problem however. I use a program called "RegCleaner" and I deleted ALL of my startup items. Two of which were stock XP "Desktop" startup deals. Removing them was probably the culprit. Have a good one. RegCleaner |

You have to enable Task Scheduler inorder for prefetch to run.

Thanks EzyStvy-
I had set it to manual at some point...I guess it requires the automatic setting. |
