Windows XP Hdd Space

I have a quick question:

When I check the space available by right clicking the C: drive in mycomputer, it tells me 6 gigs have been used. When I go into C: however and add up all the stuff on my C: drive, it says its about 2 gig... Is something wrong? Or are there hidden files and such that I can't see?

Yup... hidden files... a huge portion of which will be for the system restore.

If you don't use system restore, or only have it for peace of mind, you can change how much HD space it uses. Right-click on the My Computer icon. Go to the system restore tab. Click on settings, and put the slider all the way down. If you never use system restore at all, you can disable it.

Also go here: right click on a empty space on the desktop choose properties>screensaver>power tab>hibernate then uncheck the box that says inable hibernate if it is not already unchecked.

You might also want to check out www.tweakxp.com for various usfull tweaks. I have used them on a previous version of XP and on the 2000 version I currently use. Most tweaks work on 2000 because a lot of things are the same in XP.

Also go to www.blkviper.com and look at his section on XP services. Useful infor there also that shou you how to free up resources being wasted on things you will never use.
