Locked out of Windows 2000

I have a Windows 2000 Professional stand alone machine and use to just say ok at the login screen but now I am locked out. Error says "It could not log me on" etc...

Earlier I changed one of the user name and Computer Name as well.

I am no sys admin but thought it was ok to change it since the computer is now mine.

At the log on screen the old person's user name comes up as usual. Cancel box is greyed. But ok no longer logs me in but it used to do so without password. I even tried to restore the Profile1 after pressing F8 at boot up but still locked out.

Both partitions are NTFS.

Is there a chance of getting in without reformatting?

Thanks
Dave

This becomes an awkward situation for us here at PC Mech. Being that we have no way of knowing if you are coming here with a legitimate problem, or some kid trying to hack into daddy's machine, or an employee looking at doing some malicious work, we cannot provide support for this kind of problem.

I hope you understand our situation.
