HD freezes after a while - strange noises

I have a weird problem. I'll turn my PC on and after an hour or so the HD starts making noise like its shutting on and off. Then the system starts freezing and I have to reboot. After reboot it gives me an error saying "F1 to try reboot or F2 for setup". Keep hitting F1...wont reboot. Checked the temp of the HD with SpeedFan, its at 45c. AID32 wont tell me the temp for some reason. I have 2 HD's but the other one (slave)wont even let me access it. Changed the IDE cable and tried the other HD as master and that one makes the same sounds. Is it maybe a PSU problem?

Here's my stuff:
Dell 8100 - P4 1.3ghz - HD1=WD 80g -HD2=IBM 60gb(came with dell) - 768mb Samsung RDRAM - NVIDIA Geforce2

I havent done any upgrades lately. I upgraded the RAM and WD HD about a year ago.

Your hard drive may be on its last legs. Do you have SMART enabled on your BIOS? Does it report any errors? Download disk diagnostic utilities from the manufacturers website and run comprehensive tests on your computer.
