(I'm new so if there is something obvious I'm missing I guess I'll have to chalk it up to experience)
Just loaded win2K on machine. Had Win98 previously so I just had Win2k reformat the partition. Install went OK, No problems. Loaded OS on 40GB drive. Installed Norton Anti-Virus. Added 160GB Drive for video editing storage (Seagate Baracuda (i think)). Ran program to enable large space Hard Drives on Win2K. Had numerous problems but finally got it to recognize with only 149GB. Now floppy's (3½ & 5¼) start seeking like crazy. Disabled Norton floppy check, Cleared the Recent lists and just about everything else that most other help sites mention. Gave up and cleared the drive and reloaded windows 2000 again. Floppys now only seek at Windows bootup near the end where the box states: "configuring networking prefrences" (or something like that). The OS has been reloaded four times now. I can't get it to quit. Nothing has been loaded on either floppy since I reinstalled the OS. Would any previous trouble conditions actually save through the reformating and re-creation of the primary partition? I can't see how. I'm getting frustrated...Any Help? SD |

You're saying you want the floppys to stop searching on bootup, right? Have you tried disabling the Floppy Check in BIOS?

Not BIOS
No this is ocouring long after the BIOS has done it's thing. This is after the Windows screen has started to come up and shows Windows 2000 (PRO in my case). The desktop is already showing the background although there is no icons or "Start" bar at the bottom.
