Configuring XP's download manager?

Even though I have two 3rd party download managers it seems that some download links will only accept Windows "save target as" download manager. Is there a way to go into the Registry and configure it to always download to a specified place rather that having to tell it every time? Some links don't even give you a choice and download to some Temporary file which you have to find later. Thanks.
