Fdisk problem

Hi

I want to use Fdisk to repartition m hard drive. A friend of my sent me Fdisk. However, as I restarted my PC and repartitioned my hard drive, the screen said "Wrong version". If I'm using Windows XP Pro, what is the correct version of Fdisk ? Does anyone know where I can get it ? Thanks

With Win XP you can boot to the cd and it will give you the option to delete and create partitions and format the drive before it installs.

Hi

But the problem is that I don't have a boot CD. I just used the floppy to boot.

The Win XP cd is bootable, just set the first boot device in the bios to cdrom.

Or are you saying that you don't have a Win XP cd?

Yes. I got that. But after reinstall Windows XP, I want to partition my hard drive so if I can't use fdisk, then it won't be fine.

Go to the Control Panel>Administrative tools>Storage>Disk Management. You do not use FDISK.

You mean I can partition my hard drive by that, not by Partition Magic or Fdisk instead, right ?

Also, could you please tell me what to do after reaching Disk management ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Let's back up for a second. The way I understand you is that you have already installed the Operating system on the hard disk. If Yes, did you use the whole disk for the first partition that he OS is on?

Yes, that's right. Now I want to make another partition for another operating system.

You cannot resize the or make a second partition if the primary partition is using the whole disk, except with a program like partition magic. You certainly cannot do it with FDISK.
