Floppy drives on Win2K
(Similar to "random floppy seek" post)
I've got two machines, both with recent installs of Win2K. Near the end of the "Boot Sequence" when all the Parameters have been initalized, Both of my Floppy's begin aprox. five second seeks which they do twice. I have not used either floppy since OS installation. This is not related to the BIOS Floppy Check/test and happens well after the bulk of Windows 2000 has loaded. Can someone help me figure this out? System Stats: 1.0 Ghz Intel 40GB Main OS Drive 160GB Storage Drive 3½ Floppy 5¼ Floppy 52X CD-ROM Thanks for any help, SD40 |

Do you have an antivirus set to check your floppy drives? Also check out - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Recent and delete all the entries in there.

I see the same thing on both of my win2k boxes. It is during the part where it is preparing network connections. I am not sure, however I think it is checking for any network settings regarding the floppy.
